CatalogShoot vs. the field

Every AI photo tool does part of the job. We do all of it — in one Shopify app.

The studio photoshoot, the AI product video, and the try-on your shopper runs on their own selfie — one native app, one subscription. Most rivals give you the photoshoot or the try-on. Here's the whole board, with every price checked against the vendor's own site.

Photos aren’t photos

You’re not picking a stock model. You’re the virtual art director.

Scene, light, pose, styling — you steer them all, and remix any look until it’s the shot you’d have booked a crew and a location for. A photoshoot you direct, not a garment pasted on a model.

Camp A — Studio apps

Make you on-model photos (and sometimes video). Their “try-on” dresses an AI model, not your shopper. Botika · SellerPic · MODA

CatalogShoot — both halves

The studio shoot and the shopper’s own-selfie try-on, native to Shopify, in a single product.

Camp B — Try-on widgets

Let a shopper try items on their own photo, but don’t shoot your catalog. Looksy · Reality Try · Genlook

Straight talk on price

We’re not the cheapest per raw image — SellerPic and MODA price a single photo lower, and that’s fine. The number that matters is what one subscription buys: the studio shoot, the product video, and the storefront try-on, all native to Shopify. The alternative is stitching a Camp-A studio app together with a Camp-B try-on widget — two bills, two dashboards, two support queues — and still no video. Photta is the only rival that reaches all three, and it does it as two separate products you paste into your theme yourself.

Notes

  1. Photta installs by pasting a <script> tag into your theme; it has no Shopify App Store listing (apps.shopify.com/photta returns 404), so it isn’t covered by Shopify’s app review, billing, or uninstall flow.
  2. Photta splits merchant photos/video (“Studio”) and the shopper try-on widget (“Business”) into two separately-priced products.
  3. Per-unit prices are each vendor’s own effective rates as of 25 Jul 2026, converted to per-photo / per-video / per-try-on where a plan is sold in credits. Competitor plans change often — we re-check before each update. Our own per-photo figure is the pay-as-you-go rate across plan tiers; video and try-on draw from the same usage allowance.
